Standard Radio Twin Tube Radio

Two Tube Radio

This twin tube receiver was built according to the Simplicity Rules of construction and it sure has that trademark appearance of crisp, clean and ordered design. That didn't mean it was cheap to build however. It just about broke the bookie this time.

Anyway, the set operates with Twin 01A tubes, a beautiful KARAS HARMONIC interstage transformer, a totally refurbished PILOT straight line variable capacitor and main and tickler coils wound with some fine looking "Tattoo Coil" wire. All of this is mounted atop an acrylic base and all of the "passive" components are wired and mounted underneath.

That gorgeous solid slab of 1.75" thick Padauk wood that the acrylic base sits on was finished with flat lacquer with no stain applied. What you see is the natural color and texture of this amazing South African wood. That monster knob is also of solid Padauk.

The circuit used is of 1920's design and operates on a B voltage of 45 VDC and the filament runs on 5 VDC. It also has a C voltage supplied by three AAA batteries mounted under the plate. It is used for biasing and will never run down...I don't think!

A sample battery pack for both A and B voltages come with this radio. Please e-mail me for price and availability.
